We have revised all the matra’s, please write two words of each matra. Also, write the matra name and its sign too.
We practiced 1-100, in book PAGE 43-44 has numbers and how they are written.
Please practice that, it would help kids to read and learn.

1). We did hora and Kanora in our class this weekend, please write 10 words for each matra.

January 21, 2017

a). This weekend we did Dulawa matra. We explained the differences in “Laa” and “Dulawa”. Please write minimum 20 worlds (10 of each ) using these Marta’s.

b). Practiced the Oral commands and some sikh history questions. Please try to revise them again. Like who create “Khalsa Panth” etc. They are in the back of the folder.

c). Practiced animals and birds names in Punjabi. Write at-least 5 animal names and 5 bird names in Punjabi.

January 14, 2017

a). We try to teach the difference in “Kaka”, “Khakha”,”Thatha”, “Tata”. Please write minimum 20 worlds (5 of each ) using these alphabets. Students should be able to differentiate the sounds of these letters.

b). We practiced “Lanwa” matra. Please write minimum 10 words using this Matra.

January 7, 2017

a). We practiced all the matra’s ( Mukta, Kanna, Sehari, Behari, Aunkad and Dulankad). Please write minimum 20 worlds using all the matra’s mentioned above.

b). We practiced in Punjabi (Body Parts, Animals, Fruits and Vegetables). Please  ask kids, so that they will remember those words. That will improve their Punjabi vocabulary.

c). We practiced ginti (1-50) in Punjabi. Please practice with kids, you say and they write; Minimum 10 akhar.

d). Japleen Kaur, Updhey Singh and Tejpreet Singh will do the shabad next Saturday(1/14) in assembly. Please make sure they are on time and they practice.

Kids should be able to:
– Write complete Punjabi Alphabet
– Read the given words and simple sentences with Mukta, Kanna, Sihari, Bihari, Aunkar and      Dulankar
– Ginti (1-50) Read and Write
– Days of the Week/Months/Body Parts/Colors in Punjabi
– Recite first five pauris of the Japji Sahib
Midterm Test : December 17th, 2016 (Saturday at 4pm)
No class : No class December 24th, December 31st 2016
Next Class : January 7th, 2017 (PT Conference)

November 19, 2016

1). We finished “Aunkar” in the class, Please write atleast 10-15 words using aunkar. Words can be mixture of other matra’s. But, there must be aunkar in the word.

2). Practice body parts, 10 guru’s names and Month names in Punjabi.

3). Varan malla written and speak practice. Please start work on the hand writing as well. Please help kids.

4). We read story about Guru Nanak dev ji to kids. Please refresh all of the questions. We are going to ask those questions in the class.

November 12, 2016

We finished “Behari” in class. Please write 20 words using “Sehari” and “Behari” only. Students must differentiate the two matra’s.

Counting in punjabi.  We trained them till 50. Please listen to them atleast 2-3 times during the week. There will be a listening test this Sunday.

Refresh all the questions and answers, we have prepared for the stories for guru nanak dev ji.

1). 20 words mixture of (Mukta, Kanna and Behari). Please make sure you say the word and kid write it down. Some kids are not catching the letters correctly.

1) We practiced on vowel “sihari” sound and made lots of words.  For homework for kids to write at least 10 words using Sihari
2) Read and write the complete “varan maalaa”

5) Remember at least 10 fruit name in Punjabi
6) Practice Paath. Up to 4th Pauri
7) Remember all the question and answers of Guru Nanak Story.

1). We worked on vowel “Kanna”. We practiced lots of words. Home work for kids is to write and practice atleast 20 words using vowel “Kanna”.

Please find the homework for this week

1). We did practice/test mukta vowel with two letters and three letters. We practiced mukta with 4 letters. Home work is to write and practice the 20 words of 4 akhar’s using mukta vowel.

2). Randomly test kids on varan malla. Some of the kids are forgetting the varan malla.

3). Japji Sahib ji’s 3rd paudi.

4). We read a story about Guru nanak dev ji (Baal Leela). I have prepared a tracker for that and included questions in an excel file. Please review this sheet (story_questionnaire-2) and make sure kids are aware of it.

This week we practiced mukta and we make lots of “Shabad’s” using “Varan Malla Akhar’s” . Also, we read a story related to “Guru nanak dev ji” and story title was “Sat guru nanak pargatya”.

Next week is off, I wanted to make sure Kids have enough home work. Please help them with follows,

a). 20 Shabad’s write/read practice using two akhar’s.


b). 20 Shabad’s write/read practice using three akhar’s


c). Varan malla reading/writing practice and memorizing.

d). 5 lessons learn in the story, ask your kids and memorize those lessons. Please let me know, if they don’t remember, I’ll let you know. They will be part of their tests.
